International Tiger Day
July 29 @ 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
International Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation, held annually on 29th of July.
The day was founded in 2010, when the 13 tiger range countries came together to create Tx2 – the global goal to double the number of wild tigers by the year 2022.
The beautiful awe-inspiring tiger is one of the planet’s most iconic animals. Sadly today there are only around 3900 tigers left in the wild. Wild tiger numbers dropped by more than 95% since the beginning of the 20th century.
Tiger populations across the globe are affected by the illegal wildlife trade, human/wildlife conflict and habitat loss and fragmentation.
Tigers used to roam across most of Asia, but now they’re restricted to just 7% of their original range, in isolated forests and grasslands across 13 countries.
Tigers are listed as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red list of Endangered species.
